Check out our latest documentary about the impact of the 2011 Toxteth Riots on various members of the community. We worked with young people, teaching them research and production skills and eventually produced the piece during Summer 2012.
OUR HEROES PROJECT
Our Heroes is a project conceptualised, developed and facilitated by URBEATZ.
Funded by Heritage Lottery Fund, URBEATZ worked with 10 young people from the Unity Youth and Community Centre in Toxteth.
The group researched into and profiled 8 successful and inspirational black people from Liverpool.
The group underwent various activities to reach the outcome. These included:
- Guest Speaker: Laurence Westgaph, Local Historian
- Visit to Geoff Thompson, Youth Charter
- Research Sessions with Liverpool Archives and Libraries
- Video Production Workshops
- Radio Production Workshops, with Ray Paul
- Graphic Design Workshops
- Presentation Development
